MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University soccer team was unable to find the back of the net Friday dropping a 1-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference decision to Minnesota State University Moorhead.
The Beavers and Dragons went toe-to-toe for the first 30 minutes of play, but in the 35th minute, Lauren Phillips slipped a shot past the BSU goalkeeper to break the scoreless tie and that was all MSU Moorhead would need as Kayliegh Sedlacek turned aside all seven shots the Beavers put on goal to preserve the shutout.
Bemidji State took 21 shots in the game, logging nearly three times the attempts of the Dragons (21-8), but held just a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, BSU posted just three shots on goal in the final 45 minutes of play.
Junior Emma Riedi was between the posts for the Beavers. She stopped four of the five shots she faced and falls to 7-3-1 on the season.
The Beavers return to Bemidji, Minn. and Chet Anderson Stadium Sunday to wrap up the regular-season home schedule by hosting Northern State University. The opening kick is slated for 1 p.m.
