The Beavers come into the final weekend of the regular season with a record of 6-12 (2-2; NSIC), which currently puts them in a tie for fourth place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with the University of Mary. The win total of six triples the win total from a season ago.
Bemidji States first match of the weekend pins them up against NSIC foe Moorhead who currently sits in sixth place in the NSIC with a record of 2-12 (2-4; NSIC). The Beavers defeated the Dragons back on March 30 at the Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center 8-1 in a non-conference match.
Sunday the Beavers start off by facing the top team in the NSIC standings in Upper Iowa (6-7; 3-0 NSIC). The last time these two teams met was last season on April 11, 2007 and resulted in a 9-0 victory for the Peacocks in Waterloo, Iowa.
Bemidji State rounds out its 2008 regular season with an afternoon contest against the Golden Eagles. Minnesota Crookston comes into this weekend winless at 0-10 (0-5; NSIC) and in last place in the NSIC standings. The Beavers were 2-0 against the Golden Eagles last season.
The matches Sunday will be the final ones at the Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center for Kristen Lexcen (Sr., Andover, Minn.). Lexcen is in the midst of her best season as a Beaver racking up a career high five wins in singles competition between No. 2 and 3 singles. In her four years prior to this weekend Lexcen has a total of 14 wins for the Beavers.
