BEMIDJI, Minn. (Gillett Wellness Center) -- The Bemidji State University tennis team picked up its fifth non-conference victory of the year, Saturday, with a 9-0 win over the University of Minnesota-Morris.
The Beavers made quick work of the Cougars, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. BSU pair of Morgan Opp/Zoe Lindgren, Ariadna Lopez/Breann Walsh and Sabrina Okeson/Hope Johnson each collected an 8-0 victory in their respective doubles matches.
BSU's success carried over into singles play, where the Beavers lost just one game in six matches.
Highlighting BSU's six straight-set singles wins was freshman Brooke Mimmack, who moved up from her regular No. 6 singles position to earn a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 4 slot, running her singles record to 10-0 on the season.
The Beavers, now 9-3 overall and 4-3 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, returns to action March 26 when it hosts a pair of non-conference matches. BSU will battle the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 9 .m. before its second meeting with the University of Minnesota Crookston this season at 3 p.m. In BSU's last meeting with UMC, the Beavers posted a 9-0 victory, Feb. 25.
