Walker garners third place at St. Benedict’s Heptathlon

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- Bemidji State University junior Pearl Walker (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.) opened the 2010 outdoor multi-event season with a third place finish at the College of St. Benedict’s Heptathlon April 11-12.

Walker finished three of the seven events in second place, highlighted by a personal-best time of 2:37.52 in the 800-meter run.  She also finished second among participants in the 100-meter hurdles (17.14) and the high jump (4-7.75).  In addition, Walker placed third in three events--the shot put (27-2.50), the 200-meter dash (28.81) and the javelin throw (69-5.50)--before rounding out the competition with a 14-0.25 in the long jump to claim fourth place.

The BSU outdoor track and field teams will be back in action April 17, when they travel to Duluth, Minn. to compete in the 2010 Bulldog Open.
