Beaver Track and Field adds two freshmen to signing class

Two freshmen will join the incoming recruiting class for the Bemidji State University track and field program as head coach Kevin Kean announced the additions of Lexi Becker from Bigfork High School and Afrika Hamilton from Milwaukee Lutheran High School.


Bemidji State lands 33 on NSIC Spring All-Academic Team

Bemidji State University landed 33 student-athletes on the 2018 Spring Academic All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Team. Bemidji State’s softball team led the spring contingent with 11 student-athletes recognized for academic accomplishment.


Record-breaking 4x100-meter performance paces BSU at NSIC Championships

The Bemidji State University track and field team capped its 2018 outdoor season Saturday competing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships. The Beavers placed 13th with a total score of 14.50, scoring in four different events highlighted by a school record in the 4x100-meter relay.


NSIC Track and Field Championship schedule adjusted for weather

The 2018 NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championship schedule has been adjusted due to potentially unfavorable weather in Winona, Minn. The Championship, which was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, will be consolidated into one day, Saturday, and all of Friday's prelims have been cancelled and all of Saturday's events will be run as finals.


Track and Field readies for NSIC Outdoor Championships Friday and Saturday

The Bemidji State University women’s track and field team will travel to Winona, Minn., Friday and Saturday to take part in the 2018 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championships. Benson sets career marks at 2018 NSIC Outdoor Multi-Event Championship

Junior Bemidji State University track and field student-athlete Christa Benson finished the 2018 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Multi Championship with a personal best mark of 4,329 in the heptathlon. Benson also set personal records in four events in Aberdeen, S.D.

The Bemidji State University track and field program records in the 4x100 meter relay and hammer throw events continue to fall as BSU competed at the Ron Masanz Classic Saturday afternoon in Moorhead, Minn. Sophomore Gena Baklund broke her own hammer throw record in the fourth consecutive meet while the 4x100m relay team of Cheri’A Adams, Kelsey Hurley, Jada Barker and Venice Stewart also topped their previous school record.

The Bemidji State University women’s track and field team completed its weekend of meets Saturday in Long Beach, Calif., at the Beach Invitational. The Beavers competed in the 4x100 meter relay and 100m dash in the fourth of four different meets participated in since Friday.

The Bemidji State University women’s track and field team will compete in four different meets over a two-day span while heading to California and North Dakota. The Beavers will send six student-athletes to take part in the 60th annual Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational in California while the remainder of the team will compete at the Blue Hawk Games in Dickinson State University.


Green and White Dinner and Auction nets nearly $100,000 for BSU Athletics

More than 400 attendees and 140 Bemidji State University student-athletes gathered at Sanford Center Saturday night for the Green & White Dinner and Auction to Benefit BSU Athletics. Net proceeds from registration, silent and live auction items, as well as other activities, totaled more than $98,000 and included individual donations totaling $32,600 to “Build a Scholarship.”


Kean announces two additions to Beaver Track and Field program

Bemidji State University track and field head coach Kevin Kean announced the addition of two incoming freshmen as part of the program’s signing day class. Sprinter/hurdler Kayla Crump from Wauwatosa, Wis., and distance/mid-distance runner Ryne Prigge from Ely, Minn., will join the program beginning in the fall of 2018.


Sioux City Relays cancelled on final day of events due to rain

Due to rain and a forecast of blizzard conditions, the Bemidji State University track and field team saw its second outdoor meet come to a close early Friday as the Sioux City Relays were cancelled in Sioux City, Iowa.

Six Beavers invited to run at 60th annual Mt. SAC Relays held in California

The Bemidji State University women’s track and field team received invites by six student-athletes to take part in five events during the 60th annual Mt. SAC Relays held at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif. The annual Mt. SAC Relays serves as the largest track and field competition in the world with over 13,500 competitors over two weekends and six days.


Bemidji State set for Sioux City Relays Thursday, Friday

The Bemidji State University women’s track and field team is set to take part in the Sioux City Relays Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13. The meet will begin at 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Olsen Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa and 10 a.m. Friday.

Three Bemidji State University track and field student-athletes helped bring home four event wins on the final day of the Central College Dutch Invitational Friday afternoon in Pella, Iowa. Sophomore Gena Baklund set the BSU program-record in the hammer throw with her win, junior Christa Benson earned first-place finishes in two events and freshman Venice Stewart took a win in the 200m dash.

Freshman sprinter Venice Stewart led the way for Bemidji State University women’s track and field Thursday in the opening day of the Central College Dutch Invitational by breaking the program’s record in the 100-meter dash. Joining Stewart with notable first days at the meet were two field participants who set personal record marks in their events.


Track and Field opens outdoor season Thursday at Central College Invite

The opening of the 2018 outdoor track and field season will send Bemidji State University to Pella, Iowa March 29-30 to take part in the Central College Dutch Invitational. Field events begin at 2 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday at Ron Shipper Stadium.

Ten Bemidji State University track and field student-athletes set personal records Friday during the opening day of the South Dakota State University Classic held in Brookings, S.D. Freshman Aneesa Tucker was one of the 10 and finished 10th in the 600m run with a personal-best time of 1:41.20 while junior Samara Tobeck took ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 46-feet-03.25-inches for the Beavers.

Barnes signs NLI to join Beaver Track and Field in 2018-19

Bemidji State University track and field Head Coach Kevin Kean announced the addition of Briyana Barnes to the 2017-18 recruit class. Barnes, from Milwaukee, Wis., is the sixth freshman to commit to Beaver Track and Field starting in the 2018-19 season.
