Barnes signs NLI to join Beaver Track and Field in 2018-19

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University track and field Head Coach Kevin Kean announced the addition of Briyana Barnes to the 2017-18 recruit class. Barnes, from Milwaukee, Wis., is the sixth freshman to commit to Beaver Track and Field starting in the 2018-19 season.

All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Briyana Barnes
, a sprinter from Milwaukee, Wis., is a letter winner in track and field at Milwaukee Lutheran High School. She was a member of the school’s conference championship 4x100 relay team, qualified for sectionals in the 200m and placed third at the Wisconsin State Championships in the 4x100 relay as a junior. Barnes is a two-time AAU Nationals qualifier and holds personal records of 8.12 in the 55m, 13.05 in the 100m and 27.31 in the 200m.

Barnes is a member of the National Honor Society and High Honor Roll at MLHS.

Bemidji State begins its season Dec. 1 at the South Dakota State University Holiday Open in Brookings, S.D.
