BSU completes first day at NSIC Indoor Championships with multiple PRs

MANKATO, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University women’s track and field program completed the first day of the 2017-18 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships Friday as four student-athletes set personal record marks. Freshmen Venice Stewart and Aneesa Tucker advanced to the finals in their respective events, finishing each within the top eight.

Tucker took seventh in the 800m run with a time of 2:23.55, while Stewart finished eighth in the 200m dash with a time of 25.41. Setting personal records on the day was freshman Brittny Hillstrom in the 800m run (2:28.93), junior Christa Benson in the 60m hurdles (9.36), junior Kelsey Hurley in the 400m dash (1:00.16) and freshman Cassidy Ziegler in the high jump (4-11.75).

The Beavers will continue the NSIC Indoor Championships Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. with the shot put. Sophomores Gena Baklund and Savanah Olson will take part in the event to start the final day of the meet.
