NSIC names Track and Field’s Stewart Track Athlete of the Week

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- After setting the Bemidji State University women’s track and field indoor 200-meter dash record, sophomore sprinter was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, as released by the conference Tuesday.

Stewart, a sophomore native of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., ran a provisional qualifying time of 24.78 in the 200m dash Friday at the SDSU Holiday Open in Brookings, S.D. Good for second in the event, the time set BSU’s indoor 200m dash record (on a 300m oversized track). The time is also the third fastest nationally through the season.

Stewart also finished fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.72, 0.01 shy of her BSU indoor record set last season. Her 60m dash time was the eighth fastest nationally.

The Beavers will travel to both the Dakota Classic hosted by North Dakota State University Friday, Dec. 7 in Fargo, N.D., and The Opener hosted by The College of St. Scholastica Saturday, Dec. 8 in Duluth, Minn.
