PITTSBURG, Kan. (Robert W. Plaster Center) -- Sophomore sprinter Venice Stewart completed the 200-meter dash at the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships Friday in Bemidji State University’s first appearance in the meet since 2011. Stewart took 17th in the preliminary heat with a time of 24.84.
Stewart competed against 18 student-athletes from across the country and three from within the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The top eight finishers advance to the finals heat Saturday, March 9.
Rene Medley of Lincoln University of Missouri won the preliminary round with a first-place time of 23.81. Danielle Kohlwey was the only student-athlete from the NSIC to qualify for the finals after a seventh-place time of 24.28.
The championships are being held at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan. Pittsburg State University and the Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships are streamed live on www.NCAA.com.
