Volunteer Assistant Coach
Eric Birch is in his first season as an Assistant Track and Field/Cross Country Coach at Bemidji State University. He will primarily work with the javelin throwers and the strength training of the distance runners.
Prior to arriving at BSU, Birch was the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Bobby Crosby Baseball Academy in Southern California. In addition to his duties at BCBA, he was also the track and field strength and conditioning Consultant at Concordia University Irvine.
While completing his master’s degree at Adams State University (Colo.), Birch served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach and volunteer track and field coach. He was the primary coach for the javelin throwers, assisted with other throwing events, and the multi-event athletes. His other duties included recruiting and meet management.
Birch also served as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Minnesota in 2013. While at Minnesota, he worked with 16 teams including men’s and women’s hockey, track and field, women’s soccer and wrestling.
As a collegiate athlete, Eric specialized in the javelin throw at the University of Mary and graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. In addition, he graduated from Adams State with his master’s degree in exercise science in 2015. He is also a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
