Chad Schwegel named NSIC Pitcher of the Week
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bemidji State senior Pitcher Chad Schwegel (St. Joseph, Minn.) has been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for effort against the University of Minnesota, Crookston, the NSIC office announced today.

In a three game series with the Golden Eagles, Schwegel pitched a complete game victory in his last start of his career on the mound for the Beavers. Schwegel pitched 7.0 strong innings allowing just two runs (two earned) on five hits with just one walk and compiling 11 strikeouts. With the victory Schwegel picked up his second win of the season improving his record to 2-4 on the season for the Beavers.

It is Schwegel’s first career NSIC weekly honor and it is the first BSU player to win NSIC weekly honors this season. Schwegel is the first BSU player to grab NSIC honors since April 25, 2005 when Tony Klaers (Elk River, Minn.) received NSIC Player of the Week honors and it is the first time BSU has garnered a NSIC Pitcher of the Week since May 5, 2003 when Scott Pugliese was named NSIC Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Bemidji State finished its 2007 baseball campaign last weekend by sweeping the University of Minnesota, Crookston in a three game set on Sunday afternoon. The Beavers ended the season with a 9-41 overall record and a 7-22 mark in NSIC play. The 2007 Beavers played 40 or more games for just the thirteenth time in school history. Bemidji State set a new school high playing 50 games this season, the Beavers previous high was in 2005 when they played 49 games.
