BSU Baseball featured on Sports in the Round
BEMIDJI, Minn.  -- The weekly radio show, “Sports in the Round,” which is held on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at The Ground Round, will this week feature the Bemidji State University baseball team. Head baseball coach Tim Bellew will be on the show to discuss the Beavers’ home and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener this weekend at the BSU Baseball Field. BSU hosts the 2009 NSIC regular-season champion Wayne State College March 20-21 with two doubleheaders slated for noon.

The Beavers are sporting a 9-8 record this season, playing 16 of their 17 games at the H.H.H. Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. Last week, BSU was rained out of most of its spring break trip in Kansas and Arkansas, playing just one nine inning game against Arkansas Tech University. The Beavers lost 8-1, earning just two hits in the game.

Also appearing on the show is an interview with head men’s and women’s track and field coach Craig Hougan, talking about the performances of junior Kristi Buerkle (Stacy, Minn.) and senior Zac Preble (Coleraine, Minn.) at last weekend’s NCAA Division II Championships.

There will also be a discussion about the fate of the men’s hockey team for NCAA play. Regional tournament destinations and pairings will be aired live during the 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament Selection Show on ESPN2 Sunday, Mar. 21.

As always, the hosts for the “Sports in the Round” are Brian Schultz, Kelly Schultz and Brian Bissonette. The two-hour program can be heard on WMIS 92.1 The River or online at
