Baseball hosts annual alumni game

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State baseball team held its annual alumni game today on the BSU Baseball Field. More than 20 former Beavers came back to play in a nine inning game with the current Beaver student-athletes.

The current Beavers held a 6-0 lead after eight innings, but the alumni came back and broke the shutout bid in the top of the ninth with a double to left center field with two on and zero out to score one. Nick Jelacie (2007-11) plated an RBI with a sacrifice fly to right field and then the third run scored on a ground out by Brian Simon (2006-08).

The alumni could only muster three in the inning, but at the end of the frame the scoreboard read 6-6 and that was the final as current and former Beavers shook hands at home plate.
