BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Six seniors will be recognized Wednesday as the Bemidji State University baseball team hosts its season finale versus Southwest Minnesota State University at BSU Baseball field. The Beavers (14-34, 11-21 NSIC) will honor Cody Benson, Joey Hanowski, Nate Heisick, Steven Prichard, Tyler Nelson and Matt Wixon during their doubleheader versus the Mustangs (6-31, 4-18 NSIC) beginning at 2 p.m.

The NSIC doubleheaders consist of a seven-inning game one and a nine-inning game two.

  • The Beavers fell, 4-2 and 11-2, to the Huskies before taking 3-of-4 against the Marauders; 7-1, 8-0, 6-0 and 8-5

  • Nelson recorded the program’s second-longest hit streak earlier this season, totaling 18 games between Feb. 12 and March 26, and leads the program’s history with a .376 batting average and eight triples
  • Litchy, with 50 RBI on the season, ranks third on BSU’s single-season RBI list
  • Infielder Joey Hanowski extended his on-base streak to 23 games, tying the team high for the season, with nine walks drawn and pushed his career program hit record to 202
  • Hanowski ranks tied for second and Nelson ranks tied for fifth on the program’s single-season run list with 44 and 42 runs scored, respectively
  • With appearances in the final two games of the season, Hanowski will place himself first on BSU’s most games played list with 180 after currently leading the most games started in a BSU career with 171
  • In total, Hanowski currently leads six BSU career record lists including most games started, at-bats (620), runs scored (118), hits, walks (88), intentional walks (5) and ground outs (234)
