Snow forces site and date changes for Baseball games

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Several inches of snow over the past two days has forced Bemidji State University baseball to move its scheduled home games against Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 to Marshall, Minn. The four-game series will be moved up one day and be played Friday and Saturday at Alumni Field.

The Beavers (13-29, 10-20 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) and the Mustangs (13-27, 8-22 NSIC) will play at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Friday with 12 and 2 p.m. start times for Saturday.

Bemidji State is coming off a doubleheader sweep Wednesday to University of Mary. U-Mary stole both games with a final of 3-2 at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark. BSU starting pitchers Ryan Fransen and Connor McNallan each threw complete games and allowed one earned run each despite the losses.

The Beavers are currently 13th in the NSIC standings with eight games remaining in the regular season schedule. The top eight teams qualify for the NSIC postseason tournament with Upper Iowa University currently holding the final spot at 14-18 in conference action.

Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooded region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji State University sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
