BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University baseball head coach Tim Bellew announced the program’s 2018 schedule today, beginning with the program’s second trip to US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis to begin the season. The Beavers will take their spring trip through Illinois and Missouri March 10-15 before the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener March 17 and the BSU home opener March 30.

The 67th season in BSU history begins again NSIC teams University of Minnesota Duluth (March 1) and Upper Iowa University (March 8) in non-conference action at neutral site US Bank Stadium. Both games will be seven-inning doubleheaders, starting at 10 p.m. against UMD and 9 p.m. against UIU.

The Beavers follow up the season opening trips to US Bank Stadium with its annual spring trip, this year heading to Illinois and Missouri March 10-15. BSU begins the trip with two doubleheaders against Maryville University March 10-11 at Weber Field in St. Louis, Mo. Bemidji State then heads across the Illinois border to face University of Illinois Springfield in two nine-inning games March 13-14 at UIS Baseball Field in Springfield, Ill. BSU closes the spring trip with a doubleheader against University of Missouri St. Louis March 15 at UMSL Baseball Field in St. Louis.

On the back end of the spring trip, the Beavers will travel through Sioux Falls, S.D., to take on the Cougars of University of Sioux Falls in a four-game series March 17-18 to begin the conference schedule. BSU again hits the road for a doubleheader against Concordia University-St. Paul March 27 at Barnes Field before opening its home schedule March 30-31 in a four-game series against Augustana University.

During the month of April, Bemidji State will continue the conference schedule at Northern State University (April 4), at home against Winona State University (April 7-8), at University of Minnesota Crookston (April 11), at Minnesota State University Mankato (April 14-15), at Minot State University (April 18), at home against Wayne State College (April 21-22), at home against University of Mary (April 25) and a home-and-home series against St. Cloud State University (April 28-29). The regular season is capped with a road series against Southwest Minnesota State University (May 5-6).

The Beavers will attempt to qualify for the conference tournament for the first time since 2013, which will be held May 10-13 at Karas Park and Sioux Falls Stadium in Sioux Falls, S.D. The NCAA Midwest Regional will be held May 17-21 with the host site yet to be announced.

Head Coach Tim Bellew enters his 13th season with Bemidji State after coming off the team’s most wins (19) since a 21-win season in 2014. Bellew is BSU’s all-time winningest coach with 202 wins and helped guide three Beavers to the All-NSIC team last season.
