BEMIDJI, Minn. The BSU Baseball Field will host its first games of the season as the Bemidji State University baseball team hosts Upper Iowa University for a doubleheader Wednesday, April 10. The Beavers and Peacocks will play a seven-inning and nine-inning game beginning at 2 p.m.

    • Sophomore pitcher Trevyn Wells earned BSU’s win after throwing 1.1 innings with one strikeout and no hits allowed.
    • Senior pitcher Jesse Palafox started one game and threw one appearance in relief for 6.0 total innings, striking out six batters and holding opposing hitters to a .250 batting average.
  • BSU is led by 14th-year head coach Tim Bellew, who is the second-winningest coach in Beaver Baseball history with a 213-434-1 record overall. Bellew trails Bob Montebello (1959-87) by 86 wins for the program’s most victories by a head coach.
  • Former Beaver Baseball student-athlete and assistant coach Matt Ellinghuysen rejoins the coaching staff in 2019 in the same position. He spent the last two seasons at Southwest Minnesota State University after spending the 2014-16 seasons as Bellew’s top assistant.
