Bemidji State earns 41 selections to Spring NSIC All-Academic Team

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Forty-one Bemidji State University student-athletes earned a spot on the 2019-20 Spring Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team, with 24 also meriting the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence recognition.

In total, 830 student-athletes from the 16-team NSIC were recognized for success in the classroom. Within the NSIC All-Academic Team selections was 458 who were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

Bemidji State had six programs qualify for selection to the 2019-20 Spring NSIC All-Academic Team, led by the track & field program with 14 selections to the team, including 12 selections to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. Baseball followed with 12 total selections and four to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. Beaver Softball earned five total selections to the all-academic team with three selections to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. Both women’s golf and tennis earned four selections to the all-academic team while tennis garnered three selections to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence and women’s golf garnered two selections. Men’s golf rounded out BSU’s all-academic teams with two selections to the Spring NSIC All-Academic Team.

Sports considered for the Spring Academic All-NSIC Team are: baseball, men’s and women’s golf, softball, men’s and women’s outdoor track & field and women’s tennis.

To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a grade-point average of 3.20 or better. To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher. For both awards, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
