
Brandon Labath begins his second season as an assistant coach with Beaver Football in 2022 as the tight ends and fullbacks coach. Labath joined BSU in 2020 after serving on the University of Iowa coaching staff from 2016-20.
The 2021 Beaver squad finished 10-3 overall, securing the first 10-win season and NCAA Postseason Tournament victory in program history. BSU's tight ends and full backs contributed to the nation's fifth-highest passing offense (335.3 ypg) and ninth-ranked total offense (466.7 ypg) and chipped in to block for the nation’s fifth-best unit in sacks allowed (9) and 11th-best tackles for loss allowed (44).
Labath served as an undergraduate assistant coach with Iowa from 2018-20 and a recruiting undergraduate assistant from 2016-17. As an offensive assistant, he focused on running backs under running backs coach Derrick Foster and offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz. The Hawkeyes finished the 2019 season 10th in the Big Ten with 1,789 total rushing yards and 137.6 rushing yards per game. During Labath's first season as an undergraduate assistant coach, Iowa also finished ninth in the Big Ten in total rushing yards and 10th in rushing yards per game.
Prior to promotion to running backs, Labath assisted the Iowa coaching staff with recruiting and team camp operations from 2016-17.
Labath graduated from Iowa in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in sport & recreation management after serving active duty in the United States Navy as an operations specialist from 2012-16. While serving in the Navy, he earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Navy Good Conduct Award.
Labath is from Bettendorf, Iowa and is a 2012 graduate of Bettendorf High School.
