M. Wold and Lee named Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University’s Monica Wold (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) and Justin Lee (Sr., WR, Elgin, Ill..) have been named Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week after recording outstanding athletic performances during the week of Sept. 10-17

Wold led the BSU women’s golf team to a seventh-place finish (330-342—672/+96) in the 17-team field at the Concordia University Invitational at Tartan Park Golf Course Sept. 16-17. The newcomer carded scores of 82 and a BSU day two-low 79 to finish 15th individually with 161 (+17).

Wold’s Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week selection marks the first of the season for a member of the BSU women’s golf team and the first of her collegiate career.

Lee posted career-highs in receptions and reception yards in the BSU football team’s 20-17 loss to Wayne State Sept. 15. He brought in eight receptions for 122 yards and became the first Beaver wide receiver to go for more than 100 yards in a game since George Kadlec brought in 149 receiving yards and two touchdowns against Concordia University, St. Paul Nov. 8, 2008. Lee also is the first wide receiver to catch eight or more passes since Kadlec used nine receptions to total his 149 yards against CU in 2008. Lee also added seven rushing yards to total 129 all-purpose yards – also a career-best. He owns 214 receiving yards this season, to establish a career-high for yards in a season.

While this week’s Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week award marks the first of Lee’s career. He is the third BSU football player to be honored by the organization.  He follows Lance Rongstad (Sr., QB, Eleva, Wis.), who earned the award Sept. 5 and last week’s recipient Cory Crosby (Sr., LB, Cold Spring, Minn.).

The BSU football team is back on the road Saturday, as it travels to new Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) member University of Sioux Falls for a 12 p.m. kickoff at Bob Young Field in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Bemidji State women’s golf team continues play this weekend at the Southwest Minnesota State Invitational. A total of 17 teams and 116 golfers are expected to participate in the event slated for Marshall Country Club in Marshall, Minn.
