Jere Kubuske is in his second campaign coaching the Bemidji State defensive back corps. During his first season, Kubuske helped guide First-Team All-Conference selection and Don Hansen Football Gazette and Daktronics All-Region pick Terrell Phelps to a record-breaking campaign.  With 19 passes defended and five interceptions, Phelps quickly earned respect from opposing offensive coordinators, while the senior also ranked fifth on the team with 63 tackles.

Kubuske came to BSU after a three-year stint teaching biology and coaching three sports at Tuscarawas Valley High School in Zoarville, Ohio.

At Tuscarawas Valley, Kubuske helped the Trojans football team to three consecutive conference championships, including a 2005 title that was the first in school history.  That success spilled over into the post-season as the Trojans also made three playoff appearances and captured the school’s first playoff victory in 2006.

Kubuske worked with the wide receivers and defensive backs in addition to coaching wrestling and baseball.

Kubuske, a graduate of Walsh University in Canton, Ohio, earned a bachelor of science degree in education in 2004. As an undergraduate, Kubuske was a three-year letterwinner for the Cavaliers at quarterback and wide receiver.
