Bemidji, Minn. - The first round home playoff game for Bemidji State (16-11, 12-6 NSIC) men’s basketball is set for 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the BSU Gymnasium. Winona State (11-16, 10-8 NSIC) comes in as the sixth seed with the Beavers holding down the third seed, the second consecutive year in which both teams carry the same rankings into the tournament.

Admission for the contest is as follows: Adults - $8, Senior Citizens - $6, Students (ages 6-21) - $2 and Children 5 & Under - Free. Bemidji State students with a valid college i.d. will be admitted free as the BSU Athletic Department is picking up the cost. The prices are set by the league offices as it is a NSIC post-season event.

“It is good to play at home,” said head coach Jeff Guiot. “We are going to play as hard as we can, regardless of where the game is. Winona State played well against us (Saturday). They shot the ball better than we did and made 15 threes. It does not happen often that you play back-to-back games against the same team.”

BSU’s five-game winning streak to end the season is reminiscent of 2001-02 when it won seven straight before falling to WSU in the regular season finale. The Beavers are trying to match last year’s win mark (17) and total 34 victories over a two-year span for the first time since the 1972-73 and 1973-74 seasons when BSU had 35 wins.

The winner of Wednesday’s game will play the #2-Southwest State / #7-MSU Moorhead winner on Saturday at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn. The semifinal game starts at 6:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
