The Game

The Bemidji State University men’s basketball team (2-1; 0-0 NSIC) travels to University of Wisconsin-Stout Nov. 22 for a 7 p.m. nonconference battle with the Blue Devils.

The Beavers
The Beavers are 2-1 after opening their home season with a 68-49 victory against future Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference member University of Sioux Falls. The game was close up until 7:12 remaining in regulation when the Beavers went on a 20-3 run to open up a huge lead and take the 19 point victory.
Senior James Ellisor was again the Beavers’ top scorer and rebounder as he posted 27 points and added a career-high 15 rebounds. He also added a game-high four assists and tied game-highs with two steals and two blocks. For his efforts he was named NSIC Player of the Week Nov. 21.
The Beavers shot 33.3 percent in the first half, but posted a respectable 46.7 percent in the second half to finish with 39.7 percent from the field in the game. BSU made seven 3-pointers and have posted at least five threes in all three games this season.

The Blue Devils
The Blue Devils are 2-0 after winning the Wartburg College Buzz Levick Tournament Nov. 18-19. UW-Stout downed Macalester College 56-35 before defeating host Wartburg College 68-52. The Blue Devils are averaging 62.0 points per game, while allowing just 43.5 for a +18.5 scoring margin. They also own a +8.0 rebounding margin and +2.0 turnover margin. UW-Stout is led by Jarvis Ragland’s 21.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

All-Time Series vs the Blue Devils

Bemidji State and UW-Stout has a history that dates back to 1941 when it was Bemidji Teacher’s College versus Stout Institute. BSU won that initial meeting in 1941 37-35 and hold an 8-3 all-time record over the Blue Devils. Last season UW-Stout visited the BSU Gymnasium and the Beavers squeaked out an 89-87 win behind six Beavers in double figures and 52.4 percent shooting from the field. BSU is 2-1 all-time at UW-Stout.
