Men’s basketball announces fall skill sessions for kids

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University men’s basketball program has announced its fall skill session opportunities for 2013. The four-session clinic series will run from Oct. 27 to Nov. 17 and is available for boys and girls in grades 2-8.

The sessions will run from 4:30-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 10, and Nov. 17. Coaches Mike Boschee, Ryan Montgomery, Pat Cassidy and current BSU players will teach a variety of essential basketball skills.

The cost for all four sessions is $55, while a pick three flex plan option is available for $45. Included in the price of the program is a T-shirt. The 90-minute sessions will be located in the BSU Gymnasium. Informational materials and registration forms are available online at or participants can register online at

The Beavers posted an 18-12 overall record in 2012-13 to rank fifth all-time for wins in the 91-year history of the program. Bemidji State finished the 22-game NSIC schedule with a 13-9 mark to finish as the No. 3 seed in the NSIC North Division. Boschee set the BSU record for most wins by a first-year head coach, as the Beavers made a run to the NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Tournament Championship game.

BSU returns four regulars from last season, including seniors Zach Noreen (F, Avon, Minn.), Maxie Rosenbloom (F, St. Paul, Minn.) and Jake Schalow (G, Kaukauna, Minn.).

The Beavers have an exhibition contest at University of Northern Iowa scheduled for Oct. 25 and are set to begin the 2013-14 season hosting Mayville State University Nov. 13.
