No. 8 MSU Moorhead takes Beavers at home, 99-61

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State men's basketball team took on No. 8 Minnesota State University Moorhead Friday night at BSU Gymnasium but fell behind with a final score of 99-61. 

Bemidji State moves its record to 8-17 overall and 4-17 in NSIC play with the loss, while No. 8 MSU Moorhead improves to 28-2 overall and 19-2 in conference action. BSU is back in action to end the 2014-15 regular season against Northern State University, Saturday night.

Bemidji State Highlights

  • Leading the way offensively for the Beavers was senior Brock Lutes, recording 19 points and pulling down three rebounds.
  • Irvin Womack came off the bench for the Beavers and produced another 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
  • Cody Risseeuw helped Womack lead the teams’ rebounding efforts as they each charted five boards.
  • When the Beavers were at the charity stripe they did not miss going 6-for-6 in the game.
  • BSU ended the night shooting 41 percent from the floor and 28 percent from beyond the arc.
  • The Beavers and Dragons matched rebounds in the game, each pulling down 30 boards.

MSU Moorhead Highlights

  • The Dragons had an overpowering offense with three of their players scoring in the double digits. Tyler Vaughan led the team with 20 points, including going 4-of-8 in 3’s.
  • Jordan Riewer contributed 18 points and three rebounds, while teammates Urbane Bingham and Aaron Lien recorded 14 and 12 points, respectively.
  • MSUM finished the night shooting 62 percent from the floor and 52 percent from three-point range.
  • The Dragons were able to capitalize with 17 points off turnovers and posted 30 points in the paint.
