Michael Iseman selected as BSU Men’s Hoops assistant coach

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University men’s basketball head coach Mike Boschee announced the selection of Michael Iseman to take over the top assistant coach position for the program. Iseman joins the team after serving the past two seasons at University of Jamestown in Jamestown, N.D.

“We couldn’t be more excited about having Mike (Iseman) join our men’s basketball program,” Boschee said. “He is someone who has made great relationships early in his coaching career. He has impressed everyone along the way with his work ethic, organization and commitment to being successful.”

“I’m ultra-excited to get rolling and to be at a great program like Bemidji State,” Iseman said. “I’m ready to work with a great coach like Mike (Boschee) as someone I respect and whom I’ve developed a relationship with, after being recruited by him at Central College.”

Iseman, a native of Archie, Mo., helped lead the Jimmies to the 2017 North Star Athletic Association regular season conference championship. Jamestown followed with a 20-win season for the first time since the 2014-15 season to finish second in NSAA conference standings. Iseman was involved in recruiting, skill development, strength and conditioning, and opponent scouting with Jamestown.

“Coach Iseman has been a huge asset to Jimmie basketball since the minute he stepped on campus,” Jamestown head coach Danny Neville said. “He’s one of the most dependable, loyal and hardworking coaches I’ve ever been around. He will be greatly missed at Jamestown, but we are excited for him in his new journey. He will do a tremendous job at Bemidji State for Coach Boschee.”

“Thank you to Coach Boschee, Tracy Dill and the entire search committee for allowing me to have this tremendous opportunity. I am looking forward to not only learning from Mike and continuing to keep the program rising, but also to contributing to the Bemidji community.”

Prior to joining the Jamestown coaching staff, Iseman spent the 2015-16 season as an assistant coach at Central College (Iowa), leading the Dutch to a conference title and a berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament. He was also a two-time letter winner at Central College and was a team captain during his senior season in 2014-15. In 2014, Central won the conference championship and played in the NCAA DIII National Tournament.

Iseman graduated from Central College in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in business management.

“He will be a great addition for our current and future student-athletes on and off the court in the way he carries himself,” Boschee said. “He thoroughly impressed the search committee as they are all excited to have him join the BSU coaching staff and the community of Bemidji as a whole.”

Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooded region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji State University sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
