Boschee brings on Wagner as men’s basketball second assistant

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University men’s basketball Head Coach Mike Boschee has named Tim Wagner to the second assistant coach position on the coaching staff. Wagner completed his collegiate playing career after two seasons at Harding University in Searcy, Ark.

“Tim is a hard-working, young coach with a bright mind,” Boschee said. “He just finished his playing career and should be able to relate well to our players. I think his experiences playing at the Division I, II and junior college levels will help him as a coach and the program as well. Tim’s work ethic and drive as a player should translate well to the coaching side.”

Wagner, a native of Galesville, Wis., played four seasons of intercollegiate basketball between Harding (2016-18), North Platte Community College (2015-16) and Winona State University (2013-14) after beginning his career as a redshirt at University of Nebraska. He earned All-Great American Conference and GAC All-Academic honors with HU in 2017, and All-Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference and National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court laurels with NPCC in 2016. Wagner averaged 15.6 points per game and shot over 42 percent from the field during his two seasons at Harding.

Wagner played his prep career at Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School under his father, Mark. He received All-Coulee Conference honors three times, including two first time selections and a second team selection, and was named the Coulee Conference Player of the Year, Winona Daily News Player of the Year and Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State in 2013. Wagner helped lead the Red Hawks to a state tournament runner-up finish during the 2011-12 season.

Wagner completed his bachelor’s degree in general studies from Harding in May 2018 with a 3.7 grade point average.
