Beaver Skills Academy to host summer camps June, July and August

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University men’s basketball program has announced its summer Beaver Skills Academy schedule for 2021. The Beaver Skills sessions will be held over several dates between June and August at BSU Gymnasium.

There are two day options for the Beaver Skills Camp with sessions held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Monday’s camps will be held from 6:40-8:00 p.m. between June 7-August 2 while the Wednesday camps will be held from 1:30-2:50 p.m. June 9-July 28. The Beaver Competition Camp will be held Wednesdays from 3:10-4:30 p.m. between June 9-July 28. The camps are limited to the first 36 registrants, taken as first come first serve.

The Beaver Skills Camps will feature skill development in the areas of shooting, ball handling, finishing and footwork through a variety of essential basketball skills/drills and games. The Beaver Competition Camp will feature different concepts to help players learn through playing the game in a fun atmosphere. This camp will focus on players learning basketball in various competition settings using shooting and dribbling challenges. Players will be taught using the games approach playing 1-on-1, 2-on-2 and 3-on-3. Coaches Mike Boschee, Michael Iseman and Maverick Harris along with current BSU basketball student-athletes, will be present for hands-on teaching.

The cost for each session is $110. Discounts are available when registering for multiple camps, including a $200 cost for attending two camps and $250 for three.

Beaver Men’s Basketball will be following COVID safety guidelines throughout the skill sessions. Each participant must bring their own water bottle, a mask, hand sanitizer and a basketball. No parents are allowed in the gym except for pick-up and drop-off, and must enter and exit through the marked doorways. All skill work will be in small groups.

Prior to arriving to the camp, everyone must self-evaluate COVID symptoms including cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose/congestion, fatigue, fever and loss of taste or smell. BSU staff will also complete symptom checks on participants before they can enter the gym.
