Curb leads Bemidji State in first round of the St. John’s Invitational

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (St. Cloud Country Club) -- The Bemidji State University men’s golf team posted a 297 (+9) Saturday to hold down fourth place after the first round of the 36-hole 2010 St. John’s University Invitational at the par-72 St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Beavers, who are just 13 strokes off the lead owned by St. John’s, head into Sunday’s final round led by Chris Curb (Bemidji, Minn.).  The freshman carded a round one even-par 72 to sit tied for fifth place individually.  

St. John’s Tony Krogen fired a 69 (-3) to own low-round honors edging a group of three in second  (71; -1) by two shots.

Bemidji State and the rest of the field will wrap up the St. John’s Invitational tomorrow at 8 a.m. with a round of 18 at 6,459-yard, par-71 Monticello Country Club in Monticello, Minn.
