ST. CLOUD, Minn. (St. Cloud Country Club) -- Sophomore Chris Curb (Bemidji, Minn.) carded an even-par 72 Sunday to lead the Bemidji State University men’s golf team in the first round of the 2010 SCSU Husky Classic at the 6,676-yard, par-72 St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn.
Posting a team total of 299 (+11) in the first round of the 36-hole event, the BSU quintet is just five strokes off the pace set by Minnesota State University, 294 (+6), but hosting St. Cloud State and University of Minnesota, Crookston are locked in a tie for third and are hot on BSU’s heels at 300 (+12).
Curb’s 72 (E) was the Beavers’ low round, while he is just two strokes out of lead and is tied for fifth place. St. Cloud State’s Jesse Hafdal carded a two-under-par 70 on day one and leads a pack of four golfers to cap day one in the red.
In addition to Curb, BSU’s Jordan Priem (So., Long Prairie, Minn.) and Danny Menton (Jr., Hutchinson, Minn.), who was participating as an individual at the event, find themselves among the top 10 after 18 holes. Priem sits seventh with a one-over 73, while Menton turned in a 74 (+2).
Round two of the SCSU Husky Classic is set for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Monday at the St. Cloud Country Club.
