Beavers slide to sixth on day two of SCSU Husky Classic

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (St. Cloud Country Club) -- One day after carding a 299 (+11) to sit just five strokes out of the lead in second place, the Bemidji State University men’s golf team turned in a 314 and slid to sixth place on the final day of the 2010 SCSU Husky Classic.  The Beavers finished with a 36-hole total of 299-314--613 (+37) at the 6,676-yard, par-72 St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn.

Minnesota State University, Mankato, leader after day one, fired a 300 to hold the lead, post a 294-300--594 (+18) and finish with a 10-point cushion over second place St. Cloud State University (301-303--604, +28).

Individual medallist honors went to University of Minnesota, Crookston golfer Jake Sanders, who recorded a 72 (E) to finish as the only participant with a 36-hole score under par (71-72--143, -1).

Bemidji State was led by Danny Menton (Jr., Hutchinson, Minn.), who competed as an individual in the event, tying for 14th place with a 74-78--152 (+8).  Jim Foss (Sr., Roseau, Minn.) carded a BSU day two-low 77 to finish tied with teammate Justin Johnson (Jr., Roseau, Minn.) for 17th place.

The Beavers are back in action Sunday (Sept. 26) when they travel to the Wildhorse Golf Club in Gothenburg, Neb. for the NSIC/RMAC Crossover.  The 36-hole even is set to wrap up Sept. 27.
