BEMIDJI, Minn. (Bemidji Town and Country Club) -- Bemidji State University junior Andrew Ellefsen (Hugo, Minn.) turned in a two-over-par 74 Monday to finish third individually, with a 80-74--154 (+10), and lead the Beavers to a one-stoke victory over Northern State University in the 2011 BSU Invitational at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
BSU completed the 36-hole event with a 631 (+55).
Northern State’s Curry Kuehl carded a 75-75--150 (+6) to top teammate and Day 1 leader Miles Schock (72-80--152 (+8)) to take a two-stroke advantage for top individual honors.
In addition to Ellefsen, BSU’s Garrett Nelson (Sr., Baudette, Minn.) placed fourth (75-80-155 (+11)), newcomer Nathan Brown (Fr., Binbrook, Ontario) tied for fifth (76-81--157 (+13)) and Joe Selle (Fr., Plymouth, Minn.) rounded out the team locked in a tie for ninth (80-85-165 (+21)).
The Beavers are back on the road next weekend traveling to St. Cloud, Minn. to compete in the St. Cloud State Invitational. Saturday’s opening round is set for 11 a.m. at the St. Cloud Country Club, while the championship round will take place at the Territories Golf Club beginning with an 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
