WAYNE, Neb. (Wayne Country Club) -- Danny Menton (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) carded a three-under-par 141 (68-73) to sit atop the leader board and guide the Bemidji State University men’s golf team to a second place finish at the Wayne State Spring Invitational Monday.

"It's nice to see hard work pay off," said Head Coach Ekren Miller. "Danny finished the tournament well. I just saw him play like a champion this weekend."

As a team, the Beavers fired a team-low 294 (+6) to finish tied with Minnesota State University, Mankato for second place at +22 (598).

University of Nebraska-Kearney won the team title with a 36-hole total of 591 (+15).

Menton led from start to finish riding a tournament-best four-under-par 68 Sunday, the senior posted a one-over-par 73 on Monday to cruise to a six-stroke victory and individual medallist honors. He was the only play to finish the two-day event under par.

BSU jumps right back into action traveling to Fayette, Iowa to compete in the Upper Iowa Challenge April 6-7.
