Beavers place fourth at Upper Iowa Spring Invitational
WATERLOO, Iowa (Sunnyside Country Club) -- The Bemidji State University men’s golf team posted a day two team total of 303 (+15) and finished the 36-hole Upper Iowa Spring Invitational in fourth place with a 617 (+41) today at the 6,756-yard, par-72 Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa.  

John Hafdal (Fr., Prior Lake, Minn.) paced the BSU squad carding 76 (+4) and 75 (+3) to finish tied for fifth individually a with a 151 (+7).

Minnesota State University, Mankato opened the tournament with an event-low 299 (+11) and held off a day two rally by St. Cloud State University posting a 609 (+33) to gain a three-stroke victory.

John Cantril of Augusta College, who was competing in the event as an individual, fired rounds of 74 (+) and 72 (E) finished the invitational at two-over-par to earn a one-stoke victory for medallist honors (146).

The Beavers return to action April 13-14 when they travel to The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn. for the final to rounds of the 2011-12 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championship.

The first 36 holes of the unique 72-hole championship at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wis.

BSU, which completed the fall portion of the event in sixth place was led by Casey Hill (Sr., Virginia, Minn.), who enters the second half of the tournament fourth individually.
