BEMIDJI, Minn. (The Classic) -- Bemidji State University junior John Hafdal (Prior Lake, Minn.) carded a six-over-par 78 on Day 2 of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preview Monday, finishing the event tied for 12th at 12-over-par (156). The Beavers completed the tournament tied for sixth place with a team total of 635 (+59).
Bemidji State used a 319 (+31) Tuesday, at the 6,903-yard Classic at Madden's in Brainerd, Minn., to jump from eighth position into a tie with Augustana College for sixth place.
St. Cloud State University led the 36-hole event from wire to wire. The Huskies recorded a team total of 593 (+17) to own a 13-stoke edge over Winona State University (606/+30) and the rest of the field.
Andrew Nelson, of the University of Sioux Falls, fired a Day 2 low score of 70 (-2) to slide up from fourth place and claim medalist honors. He finished the event with an even 144 (E) to earn the top spot by just one shot.
The Beavers return to action Sept. 16-17 when they travel to Oxbow Country Club in Fargo, N.D. to participate in the Erv Kaiser Invitational.
