FARGO, N.D. (Oxbow CC) -- The Bemidji State University men's golf team carded a 313 (+25) on the final day of the Erv Kaiser Invitational Tuesday at Oxbow Country Club to finish with a three-day total of 942 (304-325-313). The Beavers took seventh place in the 54-hole event.
Andrew Benson (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) turned in a three-round total of 233 (72-81-80) to lead the Beavers and finish tied for 21st place. John Hafdal (Jr., Prior Lake, Minn.) used a one-over-par 73 on the final day of competition to finish just one stroke back, locked in a tie for 23rd place, with a 234 (79-82-73).
Bill Carlson of North Dakota State University took medalist honors in the event turning in rounds of 74 (+2), 71 (-1) and 69 (-3) to complete the tournament as the only player under par with a 214 (-2).
Carlson’s Bison finish six shots behind University of Manitoba for low team honors with 900 (309-300-291). With three individuals among the top 10, Manitoba won the team title with an 894 (301-291-302).
The Beavers return to action Sept. 22-23 when they travel to St. Cloud, Minn. for the SCSU Husky Classic. The event will be played at the St. Cloud Country Club.
