MENAHGA, Minn. (Blueberry Pines Golf Course) -- Led by a three-over-par 75 from Andrew Benson (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.), the Bemidji State University men's golf team placed second at the BSU Spring Invitational Monday at Blueberry Pines Golf Course in Menahga, Minn. April 21.
Benson assembled a one-stroke advantage to headline a field of 23 golfers and claim individual medalist honors at three-over par. Aaron Leintz (Fr., Bagley, Minn.), Joe Selle (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) and Andrew Ellefsen (Sr., Hugo, Minn.) also finished among the top ten for BSU as Selle and Leintz turned in matching 78 (+6) to finish sixth and Ellefsen was 10th with 81 (+9).
The Beavers posted a 312 (+24) to finished three strokes out of contention for the team title. Minot State University used four-over-par 76s from Karson O’Keefe, Kowan O’Keefe and Jesse Roscoe to take top team honors at 309 (+21).
The BSU Spring Invitational brings the Beavers’ 2013-14 season to a close.
