Leintz leads Bemidji State to fifth at NSIC Preview

LAKE CITY, Minn. (The Jewel Golf Club) – Aaron Leintz carded rounds of 69 and 72 (-1) at the par-71, 6,826-yard Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn. Sept 5-6 to lead the Bemidji State University men's golf team to a tie for fifth place at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preview.

The Beavers finished the two-day, 14-team event with 295-299--601 (+33) to sit 32 shots out of team title contention. Iowa Western Community College Central won the event 287-282--569 (+1), while the top NSIC competitor, Winona State University, was second at 291-289—580 (+12).

Iowa Western’s Alister Balcombe was the top individual finisher turning in a blistering -11 (66-65—131) to finish the 36-hole event with a nine-stroke lead over teammate Dale Crothers (72-68—140/-2) and the rest of the field.

The NSIC Preview breaks the seal on the Beavers' 2015-16 schedule. Bemidji State now returns the Bemidji Town and Country Club to host the BSU Invitational. The event will get underway with a shotgun start at noon Sunday with the final round set for Monday morning.
