BEMIDJI, Minn. — More than 400 attendees and 140 Bemidji State University student-athletes gathered at Sanford Center Saturday evening to celebrate and raise funds for Beaver Athletics at the Green & White Dinner and Auction.
Proceeds from registration, silent and live auction items, as well as other activities, totaled more than $98,000. Also included in the sum were individual donations totaling $32,600 to “Build a Scholarship” – a special effort to raise additional scholarship dollars for student-athletes.
In addition to special addresses by BSU President Dr. Faith Hensrud and Director of Athletics Tracy Dill, graduating soccer player Raquel Thelen, a senior from Andover, Minn., and football player Jake Krause, a graduating senior from Wadena, Minn., each shared their student-athlete experiences and expressed gratitude to those who had helped them succeed at while attending Bemidji State.
Dill complimented those present, volunteers and the community for their support of men’s and women’s athletic programs at BSU.
“Through the efforts of many volunteers, university staff and student–athletes, the evening was a success in many ways,” Dill said. “Most importantly, it provided an opportunity to continue to build partnerships for the future and share in the dreams of our students.”
The presenting sponsors were Paul Bunyan Communications, First National Bank and Sanford Health. Champion level sponsors were Midcontinent Communications and Ken K. Thompson Jewelry. Other sponsors included: Marketplace Foods Knife River Materials and Al Zutz and many more who generously donated live and silent Auction items and more.
