OWENSBORO, Ky. – Bemidji State University men’s golf senior Chris Swenson shot five-under par 139 (69-70) to tie for ninth individually and lead the Beavers to tie for ninth of 19 teams at the Kentucky Wesleyan Fall Invitational at The Pearl Club in Owensboro, Ky.
The Beavers totaled a team score of 572 (291-281) for their lowest score of the season. Of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference members competing at the tournament, the Beavers finished second behind Winona State University who tied for fifth with a team score of 567 (287-280).
Behind Swenson was junior Brandon Nelson who trailed by just one stroke after carding four-under par, 140 (71-69) and tied for 15th individually. Sophomore Ben Corbid followed with and even-par, 144 (73-71) while junior Tanner Sperling (78-71=149) and Will Czeh (79-71=150) round out the Beavers’ top five.
In their next action, the Beavers bring in an end to the fall season when they travel to St. Joseph, Mo., to participate in the Holiday Inn Express Classic at the St. Joseph Country Club, Oct. 7-8.
