Bemidji State Men’s and Women’s Golf travels to Waterloo for Upper Iowa Invite

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Both the Bemidji State University Men’s and Women’s Golf teams will travel to Waterloo, Iowa this weekend to compete in the Upper Iowa Invite hosted by Upper Iowa University. Each team will compete in the two-day, 36-hole tournament held at Sunnyside Country Club from April 2-3.

For the BSU’s women’s golf team, the tournament will be its first action since March 10, 2020 while the BSU men’s golf team is coming off a top-10 performance at the Central Region Preview earlier this week on March 29-30.

The Bemidji State women’s golf team was voted to finish seventh in the 2021 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll and return six letterwinners from last season including two seniors in Lauren and Elise Stockmoe. Lauren was tabbed as the Beavers’ Preseason Golfer to Watch after finishing fourth on the team last season with an 84.3 scoring average.

The Bemidji State men’s golf team wastes no time in returning to action after having competed at the Central Region Preview Mar. 29-30 in Kansas City, Mo. Senior Tanner Sperling and freshman Koby Kuenzel led the Beavers to a 10th place finish after the pair each shot 156 at the 36-hole event. Junior Ben Corbid finished just three strokes behind Sperling and Kuenzel and tied for 56th individually after totaling 159 while redshirt senior Chris Swenson (161) and senior Brandon Nelson (161) each rounded out the Beavers’ top five scorers.

Sunnyside Country Club is a par-72, 6,471-yd for men and 5,284-yd for women golf course.
