BSU Men’s Golf stands tied for second after day one of NSIC Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Bemidji State University men’s golf team opened the first day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship Friday morning by combining for a team score of 305 (+21) to tie for second among the 10 teams at the tournament.

Senior Chris Swenson led the Beavers with a one-over par 72 to tie for second individually. Junior Ben Corbid trailed Swenson by just one shot with a two-over par 73 and is tied for fourth. Senior Brandon Nelson (80, +9) and freshman Koby Kuenzel (80, +9) each followed with scores of 80 to tie for 29th while senior Tanner Sperling shot 82 (+11) to tie for 39th.

Winona State leads the tournament with a score of 301 (+17), four strokes in front of the Beavers while Minnesota State University, Mankato and Upper Iowa University are each tied with the Beavers in second. Augustana University’s Jacob Lee leads the individual scoring with a one-under par 70.
