Bemidji State/Denver game to be broadcast on ROOT SPORTS™
BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University hockey fans not planning to make the trip to Denver this weekend will still have the opportunity to see the Beavers open their Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) series versus University of Denver. ROOT SPORTS™ will be at Magness Arena broadcasting the opening game of the series to a regional and satellite audience making the game available nation-wide.

The ROOT SPORTS™ broadcast will be available locally on channel 683 for DirecTV customers and channel 414 for those with Dish Network subscriptions.

In addition, the game will be carried by Fox College Sports (FCS) Pacific locally on Ch. 70 for Paul Bunyan Communications Sports package customers or Ch. 315 for MidContinent Communications Sports & Leisure package subscribers.

Tori Holt will handle the play-by-play duties, while Charlie Host will serve as the analyst and Alanna Rizzo will be reporting rink-side.

ROOT SPORTS™ officially launched Friday, April 1, 2011 in conjunction with the first weekend of Major League Baseball’s 2011 regular season and the Opening Day telecasts for the Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates in their respective markets. The game is set to get underway at 8:37 p.m. CT Friday from Magness Center.

As always, both games of the BSU men’s hockey series can be heard live locally on MIX 103.7 FM or online at In addition, will be blogging live beginning at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday and 7:00 p.m. CT Saturday.

The Beavers, now 11-9-2 overall and 5-7-2 in WCHA play, seek their first victory in Denver.  BSU is 0-6-0 all time versus the Pioneers on their home ice.  

BSU is 1-9-0 versus the Pioneers all-time but won the last meeting between the teams Dec. 10.
