BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey team makes its first appearance at Sanford Center since Nov. 21 this weekend as it hosts No. 14 Bowling Green State University. The Western Collegiate Hockey Association series featuring the league’s top two defensive teams, will close out the first half of the 2015-16 season.
The Beavers open the series 5-7-3 overall and 4-6-2 in league play. Unbeaten in four of their last five games, the Beavers look to make a move in the WCHA standings versus a Falcon team that holds down the No. 14 spot on both major polls with a 9-3-5 record and 6-2-4 mark in league play.
The series is set for a 7:37 p.m. opening faceoff Friday. Saturday's series finale will start t 7:07 p.m.
Tickets for the series are still available and begin at $18. Stop by the Sanford Center Box Office or visit Ticketmaster.com.
Beaver Hockey faithful planning to attend either game of the series are encouraged to bring winter hats, mittens, gloves and/or other cold weather gear to contribute to the Bemidji State Student-Athlete Advisory Board's Hatt and Mitten Drive at the ticket office as they enter Sanford Center.
Fans are also encouraged to bring new, or gently used, stuffed animals Saturday. Following BSU’s first goal, those in attendance will have an opportunity to toss their teddy bear donation(s) onto the Sanford Center ice.
All items collected will be delivered to local charities and will be distributed to children and residents of the Bemidji area in need this holiday season.
