BEMIDJI, Minn. --soemidji State head men's hockey coach, Tom Serratore and senior alternate captain Nate Arentz talked about expectations for the 2016-17 seaosn and previewed the Beavers season-opening series versus Bowling Green, Oct. 7-8.
In a rematch of a first-round Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff series last spring, Bemidji State hosts Bowling Green to open the 2016-17 season at Sanford Center. After BSU opened the series with a 3-1 victory, the Falcons bounced back to gain back-to-back 7-2 and 3-1 wins to take the best-of-three series and advance to the WCHA Final Five at Xcel Energy Center.
The Beavers open the series trailing Bowling Green 4-8-1 in the all-time, while the Beavers are 3-2-1 versus the Falcons at Sanford Center.
Bemidji State opens its 61st season of collegiate men’s hockey this weekend. The Beavers, who are 1,047-581-120 all-time, rank second only to Boston College in all-time wining percentage (.634).
The Beavers are coming off a 2015-16 season in which they posted a 17-16-6 record to finish sixth in the WCHA standings and assemble its first winning record since recording a 23-10-4 record en route to a CHA regular season title and an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament in 2009-10.
