MINNEAPOLIS -- For the second straight week, the Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey team is ranked among the top 20 NCAA Division I teams in the country. The Beavers appear at No. 20 in the USCHO.com ranking, while they received votes in the fourth USA Today/ USA Hockey Magazine Poll of the season.
This week marks the third time the Beavers have appeared in the USCHO.com poll in 2016-17 and the 136th time since making a move to the NCAA Division I level for the 1999-2000 season. The Beavers have reached as high as No. 4 in the poll, Dec. 12, 2009, and have been a top 20 team for 36 weeks.
At 5-0-0, BSU's Oct. 21-22 opponent, the University of North Dakota is the nation’s top team for the third straight week. It received all 50 USCHO.com first-place votes and all 34 No. 1 votes in the USA Today poll to be the nation's unaomus No. 1 team for the second consecutive week.
The Beavers join Minnesota State University Mankato, this week's No. 9, as the only WCHA representatives in the USCHO.com poll, while the MSU is the league’s lone representative in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. However, Bemidji State, Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State University are receiving votes in the later poll.
The Beavers, now 4-2-0 overall, return to Sanford Center and shift their focus back to Western Collegiate Hockey Association play Friday and Saturday when they hosts University of Alaska Anchorage. Game time for both games of the series is set for 7:07 p.m.

The USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. The poll, published weekly by the Associated Press, is a joint production of USCHO.com, which provides in-depth coverage of college sports, including hockey, lacrosse, soccer and others, and CBS College Sports Networks, Inc., the only digital media company dedicated solely to college sports. The USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll, now in its 15th year, is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
