Played in 24 games as a freshman, which included the final 17 games of the 2011-12 campaign... Made his BSU debut at Colorado College (10/4/11)... Played six games before recording a point, but followed by posting a five-game scoring streak stretching from Dec. 17-Jan. 27... Netted his first college goal in a 5-0 victory over Alabama-Huntsville (12/17/11)... Also added an assist in the game for his only multi-point performance of the season... BSU was 3-0 when he scored a goal... Lit the lamp in a 2-1 win versus Minnesota State (1/27/12)... Scored a goal in the Beavers 4-1 victory over then-No. 10 Colorado College (2/11/12).
Prior to BSU
A two-year veteran forward of the USHL, seeing time with Omaha, Chicago and Youngstown, Danny Mattson split the 2010-11 campaign between Chicago and Youngstown, netting 12 points (5g-7a)in the ‘The Windy City’ during the first 23 games of the season before playing the final 23 games with the Phantoms, where he finished third on the team in points per game (0.74) posting 17 points (4g-13a)...A power-play cog, 11 (3g-8a) of his 29 points came on the man advantage... Mattson capped 2010-11 scoring in 12 of 23 appearances, which included 15 points (4g-11a) in the final 15 contests. He registered six multi-point efforts and posted a season-high four points (1g3a) in a 8-2 victory over Chicago (4/9/11)... A native of Minneapolis, Minn., Mattson played high school hockey at Academy of Holy Angels, where he led the Stars with 76 points (25g-51a) in 27 games in 2008-09... The 2009 Minnesota Mr. Hockey finalist paced Class AA in scoring, while his +49 plus/minus rating was tops in the Minnesota State High School League as a senior... He completed his prep career with a school-record 89 goals, 163 assists for 252 points, shattering the mark previously held by Jay Barriball, who went on to play at Minnesota and was an NHL draft pick.

Mattson’s commitment to the Beavers follows a path his father took more than 20 years ago... Terry Mattson played 93 games for BSU (1985-88), posted 106 points (25g-81a)and earned All-America honors in 1987.
