2011-12 / Freshman

Prior to BSU
Philip Brewer comes to Bemidji State after a four-year stint with the Burlington Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL)... He finished the 2010-11 season, his last season with the Cougars, as the league’s top scorer, netting 39 goals and an OJHL-best 70 assists for 109 points in 48 games played.  He led the Cougars to a 34-4-4-8 record and a Western Division title. In the playoffs, he added seven goals and eight helpers leading Burlington to the Northwest Conference quarterfinal series where the team was eliminated by Oakville in six games.
He completed the 2009-10 campaign third on the team in scoring with 27 goals and 40 assists for 67 points.
Brewer finished his OJHL career with 86 goals, 134 assists and 220 points with 66 goals and 110 assists for 176 points coming during his final two seasons with Burlington.  A staple on the Cougars’ special teams units, Brewer piled up nine power-play goals, 42 assists on the man advantage, six short-handed goals and 11 game-winners in two seasons with Burlington.   
Philip John Brewer was born to John and Kelly Brewer April 11, 1990... Is a sport management major at BSU with a coaching emphasis... Redshirted at BSU during the 2011-12 season... His grandfather Dean Prentice had a 21-year career in the NHL playing for the New York Rangers (1952-63), Boston Bruins (1962-66), Detroit Red Wings (1966-69), Pittsburg Penguins (1969-71) and Minnesota North Stars (1971-74).
