He tied for third on the team with a +3 plus/minus rating... Registered his first point as a Beaver with an assist at Alaska (11/4/17)... His first collegiate multi-point game, a two-assist night, came in a 6-3 win at Lake Superior State (1/6/18)... Scored his first career goal, the game-winning goal, at Michigan Tech (2/9/18)... Selected as the WCHA Rookie of the Week (2/12/18) after a two-point night versus MTU.

Prior to BSU
Somoza played four years of junior hockey... In 13 games with the Bloomington Thunder of the USHL, Somoza netted two goals and gained four assists... Somoza finished the 2015-16 campaign with four goals and nine assists for 13 points, including three multi-point games and a game-winning goal... Prior to joining the USHL, Somoza spent two seasons with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League... In 2014-15 he compiled a total of 65 points (30 goals and 35 assists) in 60 games to rank sixth in the league in scoring... Somoza was also a member of the 2015 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament... In 2013-14, Somoza was part of the NAHL Roberston Cup Champion Fairbanks squad, as he totaled 21 points (21 goals and 11 assists) in 46 games played.
