Has played in 12 games as a sophomore. Opened the postseason with three points (3a) and a +5 plus/minus rating. Made his season debut Dec. 12 in a 6-3 victory over Michigan Tech, but was injured the following evening and missed the next 13 games. Logged his first point of the season (1a) in his return to the line up at Michigan tech Feb. 19. Recorded a career single-game high four blocked shots Dec. 13. Logged a season-high four shots on goal Feb. 27. BSU is 9-3-0, including its only two shutout wins of 2020-21, when he is in the lineup and has allowed just 1.96 goals per game.

Zmolek was one of seven BSU players, and the only rookie, to see time in all 37 of the Beavers' games in 2019-20. He made his collegiate debut against St. Cloud State (10/11/19) and posted a pair of blocked shots--one of seven times the rookie logged multiple blocks in a game. He earned his first collegiate point on an assist in a 7-1 victory over Lake Superior State (11/8/19), his seventh game in the green and white. Zmolek finished the season with seven points on seven assists to rank ninth on the team and second among freshmen. He finished the season tied for fourth amongst his teammates with 28 blocked shots.  He posted a season-high four shots in a 4-1 win over Michigan Tech (1/17/20). 

Prior to Bemidji State
Zmolek played two years for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders’ blue line. The defender had 34 points in 121 career USHL games, with four goals and 22 assists in 62 appearances during the 2018-19 season. Led the RoughRiders' defenders in points and assists during his final junior hockey season. A USHL teammate of fellow Beaver, Kyle Looft, Zmolek helped lead the RoughRiders to a 36-21-3-2 record to sit fourth in the USHL’s Eastern Division and earn a spot in the USHL postseason.

Born Apr. 17, 1999 to Doug and Jennifer Zmolek... Is a marketing communications major at BSU... Prior to his USHL career, Zmolek was a standout at Rochester Century High School... In three seasons, he totaled 70 points (30g-40a)... Zmolek’s father, Doug, went to the University of Minnesota and gained All-American accolades prior to an eight-year NHL career during which he played for the Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks.
